Origin
This rug was made by the mountainous tribes of Afghanistan; it is based on the traditions of Gabbeh and tribal weaving. It features robust utilitarianism as well as expressive folk art and is made by nomadic craftsmen. The rectangular pattern design as a narrative feature of Afghan craftsmanship portrays a cultural richness through pattern repetition and dramatic saturation.
Materials
This is a hand-spun Afghan wool with 100 percent Afghan wool with natural, plant-based dyes. It has a plush, soft texture and a permeable structure that makes it comfortable and durable. Dense with no rough chemicals, every color and knot is a symbol of artisanal treatment and high regard for the traditional history of weaving.
Design
It is designed in a system of fifteen (parallel) rectangular panels, each bearing individual motifs (stylized trees and birds, abstract medallions and floral shapes, etc.). The scenes are very bright as the background is a turquoise blue color, with framing panels in every color except red and blue on the ivory and navy panel, as well as the crimson and tangerine panel, camel, and forest green panel. Apt decoration is also presented by scattered blossoms.
Craftsmanship
The talented Afghan weavers are able to tie every knot by hand and make the individual motifs in each panel clear. The precision, the coloring, and the framing are of a remarkable artistic rigour. Such fine work makes the structure of the rug long-lasting and strong, a thing that may last many generations, but still keep the integrity and charm of the large, playful design.
Heritage
The rug is a tribute to the "Gabbeh" style of storytelling, by which each part of the carpet can have its symbolic or decorative meaning. It combines the tribal touch with the artistic fancy to honor the agrarian heritage in Afghanistan. As it transforms simple materials into liveliness and cultural heritage with the magic of its hand-woven artistry.
A joyful mosaic of culture, this hand-knotted Gabbeh-style Afghan kazak rug brings warmth, character, and timeless charm to any room.
