Origin
This rug is a hand-made carpet by the tribal artisans in Afghanistan, who keep the ancient art of Kazak weaving. Being inspired by the designs of Caucasians, it represents centuries of the nomadic culture and introduces the modern room/space to this symbolic art. It is medium-sized, so it is suitable above entryways, studies, or multilevel interiors.
Materials
Made out of 100% hand-spun Afghan wool, in which all the colors are dyed with natural vegetable dyes, this rug gives a soft feel and deep strength. The natural materials also guarantee durability, but also the colours (particularly the ivory, crimson red and blue) can naturally fade with age over time, giving them a sense of "life".
Design
The core is a rambunctious crimson octagon medallion, and on the sides are tribal cross shapes, birds, and diminutive floral abstractions. The ivory field gives it a clearer look, and the multi-layer on the border, composed of slate grey, sky blue, and muted green, is an element of balance and symmetry. Every symbol and shape demonstrates the nomadic background of the weaver.
Craftsmanship
This rug was made in a meticulous way by Afghan weavers through hard work, highly figured knot density, and accurate motif arrangement. It shows the solid, dense, clean construction, which is part of the high-quality Kazak workmanship on the back side. This level of detail demonstrates how well the artisan understood geometric forms, proportion, and the cultural story, and they did this by hand, without the help of a machine.
Heritage
The prestigious status of Kazak rugs in the Central Asian weaving history is associated with the graphic and narrating boldness. The designs depict security, their wealth, and the setting of the weaver. Being the owner of the given rug implies having a living object, a thing of beauty and purpose preserved across generations, ready to be enjoyed on modern-day premises.
A handcrafted Afghan Kazak rug that blends bold tribal symbolism, durable wool craftsmanship, and timeless geometric beauty—perfect for compact statement areas.
