Origin
This running Kazak is an Afghanistan-made piece of traditional tribal weavers who use old traditional skills. It takes its ideas from the traditional Caucasian Kazak with their lush colours and strong medallions. Designed in small rooms, this carpet adds not only a piece of art and culture but also casual beauty in the tradition of centuries of weaving.
Materials
This rug is comprised of 100 percent hand-spun wool painted with vegetable dyes, providing rich permanent color. The texture, cushioning underfoot, and resilience on the natural fibres are all present. Sustainable, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly, these materials put emphasis on craftsmanship as well as on a thoughtfulness to sustainable artisan practices.
Design
The runner shows a bright red ground, with green-defined central medallions, star flowers, and angularised tribal designs. This ivory and slate-blue border is a wonderful contrast to the centre and contains X-shaped and arrow symbols that reinforce protective and unifying tribal elements. Accurate design adds decorative rhythm and harmony.
Craftsmanship
All parts of this runner are handcrafted with the help of traditional knotting techniques. The long design demands a high precision in the position of motifs, which Afghan weavers have learned so well. Balanced symmetry and tight knot density alone demonstrate structural quality beyond a purely decorative purpose of this rug.
Heritage
Based on the cultural ground of Afghan and Caucasian Kazak weaving traditions, this runner has tribal meaning and geometric narration. The motifs are associated with strength, protection, and being close to the natural world. The artisan background of the rug makes it not such a piece of textile, but a continuation of a line of artistic tradition, which is many centuries old.
An Afghan Kazak masterpiece in crimson and ivory—where nomadic symbolism meets hand-knotted elegance for timeless hallway decor.
