Origin
This rug was exquisitely hand-knotted in Afghanistan by skilled craftspeople with a tribal background in weaving. Its design is an expression of an artistic balance between symbolic geometry and functional art, with references to several generations of cultural craftsmanship. The artwork is not just a floor cover, but more of a preserved history of the Afghan nomadic history.
Materials
This rug is made of hand-spun Afghan wool that is also dyed with natural plant-based coloring materials. The density and softness of the wool are very appropriate to the high walk traffic areas, yet durable, and the weaving makes it breathable. It is biochemical-free and allows ethical and sustainable manufacturing, offering a comfortable surface to walk on and high longevity.
Design
The broader blue background features a parade of symmetric medallions surrounded by the abstract starbursts and rosettes. The ivory, maroon, olive green, and sky blue floral symbols on the border alternated, forming a visual rhythm and contrast. Its tribal design presents a sophisticated combination of daring straightness and rich extravagances.
Craftsmanship
All the knots in this rug are hand-tied one at a time and result in intricate patterns with fine spacing. The density of the knots of high knot density provides a firm and soft surface, making it suitable for narrow spaces such as hallways. The long-lasting quality is reached through careful making, guaranteeing that the rug holds its structure and colors in spite of years of everyday wear.
Heritage
This runner entraps the timeless beauty of art of Afghan tribes. Its themes sound similar to symbols of the natural world, fertility and protection which are evident in nomadic narrations. It was created with both functionality and statement in mind as a reminder of just how beautiful hand-weaving has always been as well as the symbol language present in every Afghan rug.
A vibrant blend of tradition and utility, this hand-knotted Afghan runner brings elegance, heritage, and artisanal charm to long spaces.
