Origin
This handwoven Afghan rug was created by the master weavers of the Kazak people of northern Afghanistan, who have made a rug an enduring art. The aesthetics would repeat primordial Caucasus motifs introduced by nomadic Turkic peoples. Every pattern is symbolic, and each has been handed down through the generations and maintained by the artisanal knotting heritage of rural Afghan communities.
Materials
The rug is made of 100% Ghazni wool, which has high strength and sheen and is dyed using palette based on such natural resources as the madder, the walnut husk, and indigo. The outcome is resilient soft pile. The voices get darker with age, providing personality but still keeping their shape and life.
Design
The pattern focuses on the juxtaposition of diamond medallions, which lie vertically on stone-grey backgrounds to underline symmetry and geometrical forms. The background patterns show tribal rosettes, treelike vines, and guarding eight-pointed stars. A dynamic frame formed by a warm border of red and ochre makes a bright contrast that adds to every corner of the tribal narration.
Craftsmanship
The fabrication of this rug is purely hand-knotted with a traditional vertical loom. The uniform stitching and close knot count exude attention to detail and experience. Pure edges and sharp corner motifs guarantee conformity and balance all over. Its medium-density weave will provide long-term structure that is ideal both to display and to support normal foot traffic.
Heritage
This work relies on the Kazak rug tradition, where a rug is more than a decorative element; it is a map of meaning. Diamonds provide a safeguard, stars imply heavenly direction, and combinations of different colors imply tribal heritage. This carpet is not just a beautiful object, it is a written page of the centuries-old history.
Rooted in the grey earth of tradition, where crimson medallions rise like ancient symbols of identity and power.
