Origin

The Mamlok rug design is made by handweaving in Afghanistan, by skilful artisans, with an essence of royal and architectural elements of the Central Asia tradition. Each handwoven design is a representation of the cumulative cultural tradition and artisanal skill, having been handed down from generation to generation as tradition, and creatively. Materials

Hand-woven using fine natural soft wool, the rug has a range of eight brilliant colour tones. The soft texture of the wool is complemented with impressive resistance, which guarantees comfort and many years of use. Such materials are both eco-friendly and breathable, which can help to maintain natural warmth and balance, as well as foster sustainable weaving practices.

Design

The Mamlok Pile Carpet has an impressive centrepiece in the form of a central rosette, which is contained in stylised floral motifs and surrounded by skillfully made vertical framing. A magnificent frame of crimson, decorated with symbolic pieces of fruit and petals, makes an exceptional contrast to the pale cream field. The well-balanced composition, scale and geometry show a mix of tradition with modern craft.

Craftsmanship 

This rug was spun using a 50 x 50 knot density, and it gives clear definition to all of its intricate patterns. The intricately tight weave delivers a fine pattern and heavy build through use. Every carefully tied knot reflects the weaver’s talent and impression that lends to the piece the ability to withstand and to appeal everlastingly.
