Origin

This Mumlook is a handicraft made in the regions of Afghanistan where weaving traditions are highly developed, along with a tribal tradition and how it has been established centuries ago. It is inspired by the geometric designs of the Mamluk and Persian carpet, and it is a combination of both, giving it an effect of being a work of art that bears a story of cultural similarity and craftsmanship.

Materials

The rug is made up of handspun Ghazni wool and dyed in 100 percent natural botanical dyes, thus holding the qualities of richness and resilience. It has a vivid color story achieved via the use of ingredients that include walnut husk, madder root, and indigo leaf. It is comfortable to walk on, but at the same time, long-lasting, chemical-free (no synthetic chemicals), and biodegradable.

Design

This has a very dramatic centre star medallion with smaller left-right symmetrical medallions and is totally royal in colors over a turquoise ground. Movement is created using stylized rosettes, tiling of the borders, and flower tracery. The vivid blue is broken by beautiful warm crimson and saffron accents, which enhance the impressiveness of the piece and provide it with a deep tone.

Craftsmanship
