Origin

This Mumlook rug was hand-made by a skilled artisan in the north of Afghanistan and was inspired by the classical Persian court designs introduced to modern home settings. This design has a large central medallion, symmetrical botanical elements, and a tribute to the Safavid aesthetics. All the details are carefully performed using ancestral techniques of weaving.

Materials

Hand-made woollen fabric spun from 100% Ghazni wool and hand-dyed with natural pigment from plants. There is the softness of the wool, which warms and cushions, and the permanence of patina and color on the vegetal dyes. This is an eco-friendly, breathable, heirloom quality non-synthetic fiber product.

Design

It has a daring field in ruby-red, held by a scalloped medallion in sage green and ivory with blue-toned spandrels and floral rosettes. Soft sky blue and maroon borders are used to add balance.
