Origin
This Shaal rug is made in the heart of the traditional weaving centers of Northern Afghanistan, which epitomises tribal tradition in terms of its stripe-based layout as well as the geometric design. The design borrows the nomadic elements and the patterns reflect the historic Caucasian and Anatolian rugs with a touch of unique Afghan contemporary interpretation, characterised by symbol and artisanship.
Materials
The coloring of the rug in natural botanical dyes has been done using ancient dyeing techniques, but the palette itself belongs to ancient times. It is made of luminous blues, reds and golds of indigo leaf, madder root, walnut husk and pomegranate rind. These are soft and durable fibers that guarantee long life and are biodegradable and devoid of synthetic chemicals.
Design
Vertical stripes are alternated and are in sky blue, earth brown, saffron, and garnet and feature stylized flowers, abstract ivy, and tribal devices. A rich red background ends with blue and teal edges that are embellished with guardian motifs. The stacked motifs appear as if they are moving in layers, and the toned-down palette provides an earthy and lively appearance.
Craftsmanship
Tied with extremely dense knots, this carpet shows sharp patterns and a silky, satiny pile. Its high-knot construction is perfectly functional on the backside, and hand-sewn fringes and strengthened selvedges make it more lasting. All the details demonstrate the master of the weave, and the result is an item that is a blend of artwork, traditions, and practical dependability.
Heritage
In the Afghanistan of the weaving tradition, the stripe motifs represent life and the movement of time. The repetitive floral and geometric features provide goodness of fortune and security. This Shaal rug continues the tradition of beauty and meaning that is deeply integrated into it, so that it forms culture as well as a design product.
A tribal stripe classic—this Shaal rug radiates heritage, color, and artisanal mastery in every knot.
