Origin
The art of weaving this Rug goes back centuries, and this piece has been handmade in Northern Afghanistan by expert tribal craftspeople, especially to be sold by Shaal. It is an amalgam of dramatic coloration and symbolism of stripes based on Caucasian and Turkoman themes. There is care to the knot, pride and heritage to the makers.
Materials
Woven in hand-spun Ghazni wool and colored with natural pigments (madder root to redden, walnut husk to brown, and indigo to give a blue), the colors are deep and long-lasting. The natural lanolin in wool gives it a sheen and durability, so your home can have a chemical-free finish that holds up to your family.
Design
These thin vertical lines are animated by stylized flowers, winding lines (or vines), and geometric designs in gold, blue, red, and ivory. A daring crimson frame adds to the design boded in blue textures. The balance and symmetry of the layout provide vibrancy as well as balance to any interior design.
Craftsmanship
The Shaal rugs are hand-knotted carefully so as to understand the patterns and to make them last longer. The weave is so dense that it is long-lasting, whereas the hand-bound multicolor fringe reflects the palette of the rug. Tension and meticulous lines also indicate the skills of the artisan to make the work useful and decorative in the years to come.
Heritage
Shaal is based on the patterns that were connected with providing safeguards and prestige among the tribal communities. The use of vertical stripes is a trend rarely found in contemporary weaving and a nod to antique tribal caravan and nomadic tent weaves. The history is preserved in this rug, and at the same time, it fits well in modern spaces.
Shaal brings you a timeless rug—heritage stripes framed in regal crimson, hand-knotted for beauty that lasts generations.
