Origin
Produced on weaving centers of Northern Afghanistan by traditional Shaal artisans, the rug is an extended look at ancient Caucasian stripes. Each band works out a metaphorical narrative; Persian floral grace and Turkoman geometric discipline combine. It is a multifunctional cultural asset to both classic and contemporary homes.
Materials
This rug has more Ghazni wool, which is hand-spun and valued due to its resilience and shine. These dyes are natural and are found in walnut husk, madder root, and indigo dyes; each hue is high in quality, but is also environmentally friendly. The thick, soft plush pile is long-lasting, breathable, and chemical-free, hence comfortable and sustainable over a long period of decades.
Design
The pattern of the rug consists of recurring vertical stripes of flowers, hooked figures, and vine scrolls in the earthy ochre, sapphire blue, olive, and rust colors. The pattern is contained within a ruby red space, with multi-tonal edges serving as a small protective device at the center of balance, warmth, and depth.
Craftsmanship
This Shaal rug has been expertly knotted at high density with arispe detail on its edges, which is durable. The selvedges are done by hand and have the twisted fringe, indicating careful finishing. Its jumbo dimensions are flexible enough to serve as a dining room, lounge or as part of a tiered decor theme and maintain the stature of a real heirloom furniture.
Heritage
Based on the nomadic symbolism, every stripe represents something: water as abundance, a flower as growth, and zigzag paths as the path in life. But this rug is more than floor art: it is a woven library of tribal knowledge and many centuries of Afghan weaving culture that are brought into your own house.
Nomadic heritage meets ruby elegance in this hand-knotted Shaal classic.
