Origin

This rug was created in the expert weaving ateliers of Northern Afghanistan, where Sultani tradition has spread. Based on the Persian gardens, the vase and floral elements express the idea of abundance and prosperity, hope and rebirth. The knot maintains the preexisting weaving knowledge, thereby making this thing a cultural heritage and also a continuation of the art.

Materials

Made of 100% hand-spun Ghazni wool, the area rug is strong, fluffy, and has a natural sheen. It sand beige ground and exubérant patterns are obtained with organic dyes, madder root, walnut hull, pomegranate rind, and indigo. The green pigments used guarantee lasting, deep colour with textural wool fibre able to stand up to time.

Design

The surrounding main field includes symmetrical vase patterns growing and blooming with florals, enclosed by wave and geometric decorations. Combinations of turquoise, saffron, rust, ivory and teal colours on a warm beige ground yield exciting harmony. Its extensive dimensions and symmetrical build give it a royal feel, which makes it ideal in a sophisticated living room or a dining room.

Craftsmanship

All the knotting is done by hand by Afghan weavers, rendering fine detailing and thus the plush and durable pile. Strength is provided by reinforced edges along with secure fringes, which increase the durability of the product, and the back side of the product shows a high knot count, which is also a mark of good craftsmanship. Built to endure, it is both as utilitarian as it is heirloom-quality.
