Origin

This Sultani is produced manually in one of the most famous weaving areas of Afghanistan in the north and is fanatical in its artisanship and symbolism. The flower and vine designs are inspired by the Persian gardens and the Afghan culture, as they indicate peace and regeneration. The knotwork of each has centuries of skill behind it, and links the modern-day home still with the cultural strength of the past.

Materials

Weaved with 100% naturally soft and resilient hand-spun Ghazni wool, all over dyed with organic pigments made of plants and minerals, this fine sheep wool rug is long-lasting and durable. The canvas has a grey colour, and the grey colour is enriched by black, denim, teal, burgundy, saffron, and ivory shades to create the effect of richness without fading. Its environmentally friendly wool pill does not fade but maintains its colour.

Design

The detail of this rug is an all-over design of flowering vines and stylised blossoms with accentuated elements of the centralised medallion. Warm reds, golds, teal, and ivory together balance on a dull grey ground using layered vine-scroll framing.
