Origin
This carpet is one of the master weaving workshops in Northern Afghanistan, where the Sultani weaving tradition is passed down by generations. Inspired by Persian symbolism, these floral and tree patterns mean regeneration, growth, and beauty. Each knot is loaded with centuries-old wisdom, making each one culturally authentic yet an artistic legacy unto itself.
Materials
Handcrafted with a 100 per cent hand-spun Ghazni wool recognised as having strong endurance and naturally soft, this rug exposes solidness and indulgence. The natural pigments used to dye the palette are associated with the names of indigo, pomegranate, walnut husk and madder root and make the palette very bright and fade-proof. The wool pile will only gain more character as it becomes old; it is environmentally friendly and can be broken down.
Design
It is a rug with a flowering tree in the centre with the blossoms hanging, with stylised florals and vases, all encapsulated with layers of vine scrolls as borders. Its dark midnight-black base contrasts and balances with warm saffron, turquoise, rose, and ivory touches. It has a balanced symmetry to make it even more elegant and appropriate in classy interiors.
Craftsmanship
Perfectly woven by expert quality weavers in Afghanistan, each and every knot is bound to create sharp floral designs and a bouncy yet strong pile. Fringes are tight and selvedges are reinforced, thus making them strong and durable. The reverse shows great knot density- evidence of high-quality workmanship- as well as a functional work of art and an asset that would become a family treasure in time.
Heritage
In Afghan and Persian weaving, a tree and floral patterns have the meaning related to harmony, abundance and continuity of life. Traditionally, the designs have been given as gifts of blessings. This rug has carried that legacy into today, where people can display the rug not only as an aesthetic piece but rather as a historical baggage that adds value to modern homes by providing them with authenticity and depth.
Where midnight blossoms meet timeless tradition.
