Origin
The Northern Afghanistan weaving workshops are the home of this runner because the craftsmen still practice the Sultani weaving. It is inspired by Persian symbolism, and its tree-of-life style represents development, balance and continuation. Every knot is bound in devotion, which passes to the centuries-old knowledge and storytelling, which provides safety to the culture regarding every flowery and geometric ornament.
Materials
The rug is woven out of 100 per cent spun Ghazni wool and would be durable, soft and possess natural resilience. The base of midnight-black and the floral motifs are stained with the help of natural extracts, i.e. indigo, walnut husk, and madder root. The result is deep, long-lasting colour carried out in an environmentally friendly manner, and the magnolian pile can be guaranteed to age beautifully to maintain its vibrancy.
Design
The runner's main field has a trees-of-life motif and vines, and floral sprays and blossoms, with multiple levels of geometrical border framing edges. Dark black background is filled with light by subtle red, turquoise, saffron and ivory tinges. Its long lines of symmetry promote the lines of sight through a hall or flight of steps, adding the effect of eternal beauty and distances.
Craftsmanship
They create each knot by hand, which makes it very crisp in detail (flowers), plush and durable pile, handcrafted by experienced Afghan weavers. Its strength is added by tight selvedge edges and colour-matched fringes. The underside of the rug shows is well-made, peacemaking knots, meaning it was made with a high skill, and will serve this rug well as a functional/keepsake rug.
Heritage
In the Afghan and Persian weaving culture, an image of the tree of life is related to renewal, fertility, and human reconciliation with the world. As blessings of wealth and security, traditionally gifted, these rugs have an importance that extends far beyond ornamentation. They are used today as a heritage work in your home. You can bring the spirit of your culture and spirituality to your modern homes and use them to fill the interior with the true ethnic sense.
