Origin

This Sultani runner is woven in the tribal weaving studios of Afghanistan, and it forms part of centuriesâBalshawth century-old artistic heritage. The Persian influence and the nomadic symbolism are expressed in its motifs, which are beautiful trees, flowers in blossom and climbing vines. Traditionally crafted by generations of makers, each knot holds identity, meaning, and tradition and makes a functional textile culture with stories.

Materials

This rug is made of handspun Ghazni wool for its long fibres, warmth and durability. The wool’s inherent shine is stunning paired with indigo, walnut, and pomegranate skin dyes, forming a stunning black background with shiny floral cutouts. Totally environmentally friendly, eco, chemical-free, biodegradable, it's a great mix between tradition and nature.

Design

Lush floral bouquets, vine leaf motifs, and stylised tree motifs are on a midnight-black ground. The ornamental patterns of rhythmic rays of intricate borders on either side outline the field and give it harmony and balance. Turquoise, saffron, ivory and rose highlights make it energetic, and it will suit a narrow interior (running into a runner) well.
