Origin
This is a runner of the weaving heartlands of Northern Afghanistan, with the Sultani craft never broken in its traditions. Summarising the artistic influences of Persian art, the tree-of-life motifs of its art patterns will serve as a sign of growth, protection, and continuity. The knot has ancestral knowledge, and this captures the centuries-old forms of storytelling, keeping the Afghan culture alive through each vine, blossom, and painstakingly drawn form.
Materials
This rug is based on hand-spun Ghazni wool that has lustre, durability, and smooth fibre. Its navy, teal and copper shades come courtesy of natural dyes made using indigo and walnut husk dyes as well as pomegranate peel. It has a sustainable, fade-resistant dyeing process that has a long-lasting vibrancy and matures beautifully as the garment ages.
Design
The central field of the runners is covered with the tall tree-of-life motifs encircled by vines, blossoms, and medallions in copper, ivory, and turquoise. The midnight-navy ground adds depth and depth, and is surrounded by a layered teal and golden border. This symmetry gives a long look to corridors or step ladders, and it gives gracefulness, cosiness, along with cultural depth where the place seems narrow.
Craftsmanship
All knots are expertly hand-tied and result in a solid, concentrated pile that is not only soft but bouncy to the touch. Artisan care is emphasised by fine bindings to selvedges and multi-colored fringe. On the backside, one can see closely balanced knots- a sign of great master weaving. Sculpted to perform, this is a runner that merges everyday functionality with the style and craftsmanship of heirloom design.
Heritage
The traditions of the tree-of-life designs, interpreted as the symbol of rebirth, fertility, and eternal connection between earth and spirit, are the main directions of weaving in Afghanistan and Persia. These motifs are not just decoration since historically they were given as a blessing of prosperity and peace. The rug can be considered a timeline flowing between timescapes of past and present, as centuries of symbolism stream through the homes as a cultural heritage.
