Origin

This Sultani carpet has been woven in the craftsman-studio of Northern Afghanistan and has centuries-old traditions of weaving. It uses Persian-style floral and vine motifs symbolising life, prosperity and rebirth according to the Persian garden traditions. Any knot contains a piece of ancestral knowledge, so that it does not make the rug a mere decoration, but turns it into a living piece of cultural heritage.

Materials

Crafted from 100% hand-spun Ghazni wool, cherished for its durability and organic glow, this rug is hand-dyed with plant-based dyes including walnut shell, indigo, madder root and pomegranate rind. These low-impact eco dyes give luminous, long-lasting results. Over the years, the wool breathes and matures gently, only increasing in softness, lustre and long-lasting sustainability.

Design

The golden beige field is filled with a multicoloured flower bouquet consisting of ruby, emerald, navy, ivory, and walnut brown fabulous flowers, artfully traditional in distribution of vine scrolls. There is a stylised medallion and foliate tracery-like frames of several borders. The combination of harmony and bright contrast gives a harmonious focal point to classic interiors.

Craftsmanship

It is a hand-tied carpet, knot by knot with care by the experienced Afghan craftsmen, which makes it highly dense and the design clear. The durability is guaranteed by the reinforced edges and finely knotted fringes.
