Sultani 9.6 x 8.2 Wool Rug – Beige Sand Field with Jewel-Toned Floral & Vine Motifs

Origin

This Sultani rug is handwoven throughout Northern Afghanistan and signifies many generations of weaving traditions in Afghanistan. It has floral and vine patterns reminiscent of Persian gardens, which are a symbol of life and prosperity. Each knot is impregnated with the memory of the ancestors, so that a rug can not only adorn a living room but also become a place to retain the century-old culture of art.

Materials

The rug is made out of 100 per cent hand-spun Ghazni wool, offering a natural sheen, warmth and resiliency. The palette was dyed red using organic pigment, including walnut husk, indigo and madder root and is therefore resistant to fading and very bright. Over time, the texture of the wool softens to perfection, giving an eco-friendly longevity and sustainable glamour in any inner space.

Design

Beige sand ground is highly patterned with jewel-toned florals in emerald, ruby, ivory, and navy interwoven with scrolling vines and medallion blossoms. The design has a variety of borders describing the composition, as much as structure and flow are balanced. Its fine balance and organic allure make it a high couture unit on traditional setups.

Craftsmanship
