Origin
This Waziri apron was woven in the tribal weaving areas of the Afghanistan region using centuries-old Caucasian pattern influences. It has geometric medallions and strong symmetry that is derived from traditional tribal patterns symbolising protection and harmony. The artisan of Afghanistan knots each of the runners, continuing the long line of weaving to provide culture, identity, and generations of craft.
Materials
The rug is made of 100 per cent hand-spun Ghazni wool and is strong, warm, and has a natural sheen. The jewel tones are rich and unyielding to fad, dyed with organic pigments such as indigo and madder root and the pomegranate equal. The wool pile will have a gorgeous softness that ages with grace, and the firm backbone makes it a long-sustaining, environmentally friendly rug for heavy traffic areas.
Design
The runner is updated with a series of showy tribal medallions composed of emerald, rust, ivory and sapphire framed in serrated surrounds. The neutral grey landscape balances the precious colours, and thin borders add a note of detail with their geometric patterns. Its symmetric rhythmic pattern lends balance, dynamism and the feeling of the real to any corridor or stairwell.
Craftsmanship
Each knot in this Waziri runner has been secured by hand with perfect accuracy, creating sharp details and raising the knot density to a medium-high level. They are reinforced on the sides, and hand-finished fringes give strength and authenticity. At the back, one can find the transparency of its weave that has been a symbol of great artisanship by Afghan designers, integrating the strength of its culture and heirloom aestheticism.
Heritage
The designs of Waziri rugs go back to the tribal Caucasian and Afghan weaving traditions, with the geometric medallions being a sign of protection, courage and continuity. This is a design that has been inherited through generations and which depicts a kind of life that is based on nomadic ferocity and identity to the community. This runner widens that tradition, updating ancient iconography as a classic decoration to face contemporary spaces.
Where tribal strength meets timeless elegance.
